The SOFIA Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy is a Boeing 747SP that carries a 106-inch reflecting telescope to study the universe from 40,000 feet. Not only is SOFIA unique because of her space exploration equipment, but she’s also an extremely rare aircraft.
